"2am. i took a half hour walk in the rain. it’s steady, somewhere between light and moderate. no ipod. no phone. no umbrella. me, a hoodie and my thoughts & senses. the refreshingly clean smell of the air, light raindrops brushing eyelashes, the sound of the night’s silence save for the ‘sllllshhhh’ sound of the occasional car passing by and the quietly melodic symphony of water moving from rooftops, down gutters, into the streets of new york. i plucked a leaf from a maple tree so i could feel the newly unfolded velvety texture of the bright green between my fingertips. while everything else is turmoil, nature can help refresh us, the flowers in this concrete jungle."
